Quantity

Julio León is a Spanish artist from Soria. He studied at the School of Art of Barcelona, later expanding them at the Frans Masereel Centrum in Belgium and thanks to scholarships at the Druckgraphic Hermann Kätelhön workshop and at the Pilar and Joan Miró Foundation in Mallorca, being in the latter workshop teacher today. He also founded the Torculari workshop in Mallorca, where in addition to creating graphics, he deals with the teaching of different intaglio techniques.

His participation in solo exhibitions is scarce, limiting himself to some made in the Balearic territory of which we can highlight the one held at the Museu d'Art Contemporani de Sa Pobla. Undoubtedly, his departure from the mundane aspects of art is very uncomfortable with the quality of his works that, systematically, have been awarded and selected in the competitions in which he has participated: National Engraving Prize, both the one established by National Calcography and that of the Museum of Contemporary Engraving of Marbella; Carmen Arozena Prize, Máximo Ramos Prize, Fundació Pilar i Joan Miró Awards, International Biennial of Engraving of Ourense and Deutsche Stiftung Prize.
