Mariano Brandi was a Spanish printmaker from Valencia. He began his studies at the Royal Academy of San Carlos (of which he was named a merit academic in 1785) and later at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando as a pensioner. Thanks to Manuel Salvador Carmona, he was appointed second-class engraver and participated in the series of Portraits of Illustrious Spaniards under the patronage of the Count of Floridablanca (Prime Minister of the King) and the Royal Printing Office.

Author of prolific production, he participated in other companies such as the General History of Spain by Benito Monfort in 1785, the sixteenth edition of El Quijote published between 1797 and 1798 by the Royal Printing Office, or the Natural History of the widow of Ibarra. He engraved allegorical portraits of Ferdinand VII and other important figures from the Peninsular War, as well as numerous religious engravings.
