John Flaxman, was an artist of extraordinary fame internationally, who would illustrate the classic stories of Homer, Aeschylus, Hesiod and Dante, achieved with them a fame of extraordinary value. These series were engraved in the late nineteenth century by the Catalan Joaquim Pi i Margal, an engraver with a great artistic reputation after making these reproductions.

The Days and the Theogony of Hesiod, is composed of a total of thirty-seven prints, including the covers, accompanied by a blue case, closed by rope on each of its sides, where it is kept.

This series refers to two worlds, on the one hand, the Theogony, which relates through verse the world of the gods, while on the other hand the Works and The Days, refer to the mortal world, thus establishing a connection of the world between both parts. In the Theogony some fables of well-known characters from Greek mythology are introduced, such as Prometheus or Pandora, with a didactic story, with Zeus as the representation of justice. With the same interest, the Works and Days, establish a list of the daily tasks that man must do, his work, and as with this the difficulties of life are overcome, being the correct mentality to avoid what both parties hate, laziness.
