This book is one of the first volumes of the collection MAESTROS DE LA FOTOGRAFÍA EN LA ACADEMIA DE BELLAS ARTES, directed by the academic Publio López Mondéjar. These will be followed by others by Ramón Masats, Alfonso, Pérez Siquier, Santo Yubero and others.
While still a young boy, Virxilio left Soutelo to work first in Vigo and then in Catalonia, where he worked as a street photographer for seven years. With the trade well learned, he returned to his homeland, settling down definitively as a portrait photographer. But it was not in the studio where he liked to work, but in the streets, in the streams, in the meadows and cemeteries, in the orchards, on the road that crosses his village through which the echoes of the world timidly filtered. It was in these settings that he took his best photographs, the ones which, to his own amazement, made him an international celebrity, ever since his daughter Keta discovered them for us in 1997.
Textos de Antonio Lucas, Christian Caujolle y Keta Vieitez.
