Quantity

Jaume Plensa is a Spanish visual artist, sculptor and engraver. He began his artistic training at the Llotja School of Art and Design and at the School of Fine Arts of Sant Jordi. In 1980 he had the opportunity to hold his first exhibition in Barcelona, where he currently resides. Despite this he has lived and worked in different capitals such as Berlin, England, Germany, the United States or Brussels, being an artist with a continuous training. He became a professor at the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, has collaborated as a guest professor at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and has lectured at all kinds of museums and cultural institutions nationally and internationally.

Jaume Plensa has received numerous national and international awards, including the Medaille de Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres awarded by the Ministry of Culture of France, the National Prize of Fine Arts of the Generalitat of Catalonia or the National Prize for Graphic Art 2013, awarded by the National Chalcography. A very significant part of Plensa's work is in the field of sculpture, exhibited in public spaces in different cities of Spain, France, Japan, England or the United States, cities that in turn have seen his work thanks to numerous exhibitions held in them. Since 1996 he collaborates with projects related to theater and opera, mainly working to develop new concepts and design spaces and costumes.
