Plaster cast sculpture made from the Original east Parthenon piece of the Parthenon. The East pediment showed the miracolous birth of the goddess Athena from the head of her father Zeus. Many of the figures from the central scena are now fragmentary or entirely lost. The original from this exact reproduction was carved as an isolated horse´s head. This is the head of one of the horses that drew the chariot of the moon goddess Selene or Nyx, goddess of the night. The original sculpture, in marble, belongs to in the British Museum. Casted from Original purchased by Thomas Bruce ,7th Earl of Elgin.
