Discovered by Hormuzd Rassam in 1853. Extraordinary carvings from the North Palace of the Assyrian king Ashurbanipal at Nineveh. Assyrian lion hunting scenes are su dynamic, realistic and full of movement that stand as some of the most remarkable ancient artifacts ever found. The original work, in alabaster, belongs to in the British Museum.
