Roman copy of an original Greek of the 4th century B.C. The original work, in marble, belongs to the Uffizi Gallery (Florence). The first copy of the series of this cast entered in the Royal Academy of San Fernando between 1776 and 1780. It belonged to the collection that Mengs gave to Carlos III and later that in turn the monarch gave to the Academy.
